Description

Join a movement sweeping across the nation -- building resources in faith-based schools to support students experiencing Down syndrome and other learning differences. This fundraising luncheon will provide you an opportunity to mingle with friends and family as you learn more about the Archdiocese of Portland's leadership and support of diverse learners and the role of parent-founded foundations, like Inclusive Catholic Education of Oregon, Inc. (Oregon ICE), to support its local community. Founded in 2015, Oregon ICE's mission is to support the inclusion of students with developmental and/or intellectual disabilities in Oregon. Since its inception, Oregon ICE has sponsored learning seminars for teachers, supported aides for students, and provided resources to parishioners. Inclusion of students with learning differences enriches their lives, schools, and the broader community. Attend the luncheon to learn about the Archdiocese of Portland's successes and challenges with welcoming students with Down syndrome and other learning differences. Hear from Learning Specialist Liz Richard to learn about the services she provides to students at Holy Family. Learn from Oregon ICE Founders Jeanne & Blair Loftis as to the specific needs of our local community and hear about their two meetings with Pope Francis. Finally, watch a short film illustrating the importance of inclusion to parish families. Note: Be sure to plan extra time for on-street parking. MAC parking passes are no longer available for this event.
