About Eid al-Fitr
Eid al-Fitr is the holiday marking the end of the holy month of Ramadan and means “festival of breaking the fast.” It is celebrated by Muslims during the first three days of Shawwal, the 10th month of the Islamic calendar. It is customary for friends and family to visit one another, share a meal, and give gifts.
This program is made possible in part by the Smithsonian National Museum of Asian Art.
