On Thursday, April 27, 2023, Marc Maillot, associate director and chief curator of the Institute for the Study of Ancient Cultures (ISAC) at the University of Chicago, will be awarded the title of Chevalier de l’Ordre des Palmes Académiques from the French Ministry of National Education. Maillot is receiving this title for his collective work in Sudan, where he previously held the position of director of the French Archaeological Unit on behalf of the French Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Prior to the ceremony, Maillot will deliver a lecture in Breasted Hall examining ten years of work and research in the Sudan Antiquites Services.
