Every year we bring in experts to assess our life safety compliance as part of continuous compliance. Why are there so many deficiencies every year? Information presented will help the facility manager recognize five major reasons for deficiencies, both new and repetitive. With this understanding resources and efforts can be directed to prevent deficiencies from occurring, rather than having to react when they are identified. Some are minor quick fixes and then a few can be major design/construction mistakes. In the context of AHJ interpretations (Authority Having Jurisdiction) this presentation will also list some trivial vs. occasionally really serious issues that surface during their life safety surveys.
Will also share some details from the Brockton Hospital “10- alarm” Fire, February 7, 2023, more than 160 patients total evacuation.
