Description

As the new adult use cannabis industry develops in New York, a critical question is what kind of jobs and careers will it create? States with robust, established markets are reporting billions of dollars in cannabis sales per year. The jobs created in New York State, and especially Erie County, must share this prosperity as broadly as possible, giving people quality careers that create economic stability and opportunity for themselves, their families and their communities. This conversation will explore the perspectives of different stakeholders, from elected officials to community leaders to workers to business owners, and why they believe in the importance of good jobs as a way to create greater social equity in the cannabis industry, empowering individuals, and communities most harmed by decades of prohibition. Joining the Conversation will be: Hazel Dukes: President, NAACP New York State Conference Tamika Mallory: Activist, Author, and Co-Founder Until Freedom Aleece Burgio Esq. - New York State Bar Association Franchelle Parker - Executive Director, Open Buffalo Nikki Kateman - Political Director RWDSU/UFCW Local 338 Britni Tantalo, Co-Founder & CEO NY CAURD Coalition David Serrano - Project Manager, Cannabis Workforce Initiative Nhi Kha - Co-Founder of Sativa Remedy
