Riding the success of their monumental Easter in the Park and Hunky Jesus contest, the Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence, Inc. are excited to announce Project Nunway 11: Sanctuary, taking place at St. Joseph's Art Society on May 26, 2023.
This year's fashion extravaganza will showcase the theme "Sanctuary," inviting designers to explore the concept of safety, refuge, and healing through their runway looks. Each designer gets paired up with a Sister, who will walk the runway wearing their fabulous creations.
"Sanctuary is a powerful theme that speaks to the heart of our community," says Sister Hera Sees Candy. "We want to use the art of fashion to create a space where everyone can feel safe, celebrated, and empowered."
Project Nunway, winner of a Bay Area Reporter Bestie award, combines the worlds of fashion and philanthropy, featuring unique runway looks created from recycled and repurposed materials. All proceeds from the event benefit the valuable work of the Sisters, which includes giving grants to underfunded organizations providing vital resources and support to marginalized communities.
“Project Nunway is hands down one of my favorite annual Sister events,” says Sister Roma. “I am always amazed by the creativity of these designer/sister teams and I just know this is going to be our best year yet.”
This year's event promises to be a night to remember, with a diverse lineup of designers, entertainers, celebrity judges, and fierce models. Guests will also have the opportunity to participate in auctions items, enjoy VIP experiences, and party the night away with everyone’s favorite drag nuns.
