Course Description The WakeMed Pediatric and Neonatal Speaker Series offers a variety of information for both new & experienced providers. Dynamic speakers will present current recommendations for pediatric and neonatal patient care. Pediatric and neonatal simulations will be offered during breakout sessions. Pre-registration for these sessions is required the morning of the event as space is limited. Please arrive early to register for one of these simulations. Target Audience This conference is designed for nurses, pre-hospital and inpatient providers including advanced practice providers. Focus is for staff of emergency departments, intensive care areas, operating & recovery rooms, medical-surgical units, rehabilitation, or other settings where pediatric and neonatal patients are treated. Program Schedule 8:00 a.m. Doors open, registration begins 9:00 – 10:00 a.m. Multisystem Inflammatory Syndrome in Children Post COVID-19 10:00 a.m. – 11:00 a.m. Updated Practice Guidelines for the Management of Neonatal Hyperbilirubinemia **10:00 a.m. – 11:00 a.m. Pediatric Myocarditis Simulation (located in the Medical Simulation Center) – Separate sign-up required the morning of registration** 11:00 a.m. – 11:15 a.m. Break 11:15 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. Neonatal Sepsis - Dr. James Perciaccante - Director, Neonatology 12:30 p.m. – 1:15 p.m. Lunch 1:15 p.m. – 2:15 p.m. Implementation of ERAS for Neonatal Intestinal Surgery **1:15 p.m. – 2:15 p.m. Neonatal Sepsis Simulation (located in the Medical Simulation Center) Separate sign-up required the morning of registration** 2:15 p.m. – 3:15 p.m. Palliative Care in Pediatrics Panel Discussion with members of the Pediatric ICU, Children’s Emergency Department, Child Life, and Honorbridge 3:15 p.m. – 4:00 p.m. Closing thoughts with Jesse O’Neal, MAPSC, MBA, MS, BCC, Staff Chaplain Emergency Services **Simulation sign-up will be on a first come, first serve basis. Pre-registration for these sessions is required the morning of the event as space is limited. Please arrive early to register for one of these simulations. Topics, Speakers & Hours of Continuing Education Subject to Change 6.25 Nursing Contact Hours will be provided upon completion of the speaker series. Nursing Education Department at WakeMed is an approved provider of continuing nursing education by the North Carolina Nurses Association, an accredited approver by the American Nurses Credentialing Center's Commission on Accreditation.
