The Woodshop Listening Room Presents: Nigel Wearne + David Bingaman Thursday, May 4th $10 Pre-Sale Tickets | $15 Day of Show Doors at 5pm | Music at 8pm *no cover until 7pm* Nigel Wearne (Folk & Blues Songwriter) VIDEO | LISTEN Nigel Wearne saunters after dark in the music of the night, blending blues, folk and Americana-noir. Hailing from Gunditjmara country in the deep south of Australia, he's a guitarist and multi-instrumentalist with diverse influence from Nick Cave, Tom Waits and Gillian Welch. A deep thinker and truth speaker with a penchant for all things peculiar, he sings of human frailty, grace and the cosmos; songwriting that cuts to the bone. Nigel has toured Australia, New Zealand, the UK and Canada and he's performed at a long list of music festivals, including the Port Fairy Folk Festival and Adelaide Guitar Festival. His sophomore album, Black Crow garnered wide critical acclaim including a 4-STAR review in Rolling Stone, a nomination for Best Country Album at the Music Victoria Awards and it debuted at #1 on the AMRAP Charts. Singer-songwriter, luthier, poet and gleaner; Wearne paints lyrical pictures with “the narrative-fuelled prose of Paul Kelly” – BEAT MAGAZINE. “An eruption of energy, rhythm and melody” – RHYTHMS MAGAZINE “Warmth flecked with grit… beauty awaits” – ROLLING STONE DAVID BINGAMAN (Folk & Country Songwriter) VIDEO | LISTEN David Bingaman taught himself to play guitar by listening to blues musicians like Stevie Ray Vaughan and Ligntin’ Hopkins, becoming interested in folk music and songwriting in college and began to collaborate with his sister Jennie while attending the University of Arkansas at Fayetteville. David and Jennie Hayes found that their love for the blues, traditional country music, and bluegrass was the perfect vehicle for their playful, honest, and story-driven songwriting. David worked for three years at Nashville's historic Bluebird Café frying up chicken fingers for Bluebird regulars and legendary songwriters like Kris Kristofferson and Don Schlitz. In 2017 the siblings made some career changes, officially formed Brother and The Hayes, and released 'The Dead End EP'. In 2019 they produced and released their first full-length album, 'Tennessee Nights', and in 2021 released another EP titled ‘The Art of Letting Go’. Their latest release, Another Strange Time, is turning heads. "Over a steady, lightly rocking arrangement, enhanced by a soulful guitar solo and sprinkling keys, 'Something to Find' recalls the Drive-By Truckers at their most thoughtful." - The Indy Review.
