As the multi-year renovation of New Jersey’s historic Capitol building nears completion, now is the timely and critical moment to envision the next steps for greening downtown Trenton by creating an urban park. Join our call for the Capital Park to be built in our State Capital, the City of Trenton. We invite you to attend a walkthrough event of Capital Park’s grounds on Monday, April 24, 2023 at Noon (12:00pm EST).We implore Governor Murphy and the state legislature to act NOW and get our park built. This project connects important city and state cultural assets by creating a healthy, active and vibrant green space behind the Capitol building in downtown Trenton for all New Jerseyans, workers, and visitors to enjoy. Get the message loud and clear to elected officials to #FinishtheJob and #BuildCapitalParkJoin our walkthrough to show your support for this future park and mobilize others to join! Jay Watson, Co-Executive Director of New Jersey Conservation Foundation, will lead the walking tour at noon, where participants will gather at the State Capitol Fountain (between State Annex and Library), walk through the grounds, and discuss future connectivity and possibilities for the open space. This walkthrough will take place immediately preceding New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection’s budget hearing. Participants who are available and willing are encouraged to attend that hearing following the future park’s walkthrough. The event will be outside, rain or shine, so please dress appropriately for the weather. Parking is available at the garage at 201 S Warren St Garage
