Conductors reflect upon the many concert performances in their careers and find that there are those exceptional compositions that represent great meaning, those that require extraordinary vocal technique, and many that are representative of both. The works that will be presented are indicative of both considerations. From the serene expression in Sing Me to Heaven to the sophisticated multi-rhythms in Gaudete or the masterful pen of Sir Benjamin Britten in his dearly loved Hymn to St. Cecelia, this program will surely have something meaningful and satisfying for all!
The second half of the concert will feature works that are MSVA favorites including If I Were a Swan by Matthew Harris and Double, Double Toil and Trouble.
The concert will include a short intermission and the first half of the concert will be conducted by finalist for the MSVA conductor position, Dr. Don Schade. MSVA's current artistic director, Dr. Erik Jones will conduct the second half of the program.
