The day will consist of a panel discussion on the state of literacy in the Black and Brown community, breakout sessions for ages 3-12, crafts,Black local author spotlights, drum circle and vendors. We intend to support parents through literacy advocacy to schools, highlight the connection between literacy and mental health wellness, demonstrate the joy of reading and learning to young people, and bring families together to share educational resources and insight. Our primary goal is to start a conversation about centering homes, families, and the world as the primary and fundamental places for learning.
