Nerd Nite Louisville will be "on steroids" April 27 as we do this monthly event in honor of our late co-host Bentley McBentleson. Bentley was a larger than life, gentle giant, who had a magnetic personality and radiated positivity. It's only fitting our first Nerd Nite with him in spirit also have that same energy. ***Event is free but you MUST RSVP via Eventbrite for capacity reasons the night of.*** SCHEDULE: 6 p.m. - 6:30 p.m. - Check-in, grab a beer, grab food, and grab a seat 6:45 p.m. - Speaker Amelia Pillow, Brewmaster and Owner at Shippingport Brewing Co., talks about brewing beer and a female brewmaster in the male-dominated beer industry. Speaker Q&A + trivia questions related to Bentley's life 7:30 p.m. - Speaker Blair Wooten, UofL med student (Dr. come May 13), talks about "The Turnaway Study." Over ten years, a team of scientists—psychologists, epidemiologists, demographers, nurses, physicians, economists, sociologists, and public health researchers—followed a thousand women in the U.S. who either received an abortion or didn't have access to one. Wooten will breakdown the results of this landmark study that looks at the consequences of having—or being denied—an abortion. While none of you can become the world’s tallest person or the grow the longest fingernails in the next few weeks, you can learn about 10 world records that have been set relatively recently, a few of which you could potentially be able to break yourselves, and one of which (or maybe even two) we’ll all try to break together at Nerd Nite Louisville on April 27.
