Black Culture Connected/DBA Black Murfreesboro, a 501 (c) (3) non-profit, is excited to present Dinner, Dancing, and Dashikis on May 20, 2023, from 5 pm to 10 pm. The event location is at the historic Oakland Mansion. It will feature West African cuisine such as Jollof Rice, Kelewele, Egusi Stew, FuFu, and more. In addition, the Yeli Ensemble will have a drumming performance, there will be Afrobeats music, Live Band, Black Murfreesboro Market, and a silent auction. Southern Flare will provide the cigar lounge, bar, and Whiskey provided by Uncle Nearest. Come dressed in your favorite Dashiki or African Attire. The evening will be a night to celebrate West African culture in efforts to raise scholarship funds for students attending Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs). Chef Tina Quaye of Wonderland Catering Services will prepare an authentic West African meal featuring Ghana Jollof Rice, Baked Chicken, Kelewele, Agushie Stew, Boiled Potatoes, Fufu with Pepper Soup, and Groundnut Soup.
