ELIGIBILITY AND AGE: Each participant must be a 4-H member currently enrolled and actively participating in county programs. 4-H Age: Age divisions are determined by a participant’s age as of January 1st of the current year. • Cloverbud Member: 5-8 years of age • Junior Member: ages 9 -13 years of age • Senior Member: ages 14-18 years of age CONTEST #1 PRODUCT COMPETITION Rules: • Recipe must be prepared and baked by the individual. • Bring your baked items on a plain paper plate, and they must be covered. • No mixes can be used. • A printed recipe must be presented with the product at registration. • Bring two (2) copies of the recipe printed on 8 ½ x 11 white paper – Name and age (as of January 1 of the current year) should be on the back of the recipe. Please do not let any of your recipe print on the back of the paper. • Recipe must include 1. Name of recipe 2. List of ingredients – list in the order they are used in the instructions a. Measurements given in common fractions b. No abbreviations used c. No brand names used 3. Instructions for combining ingredients a. Clear instructions for every step b. Short, clear, concise sentences c. Correct food preparation terms used to describe combining and cooking process d. Size of pan is stated e. Temperature and cooking time stated f. Number of servings CONTEST #2 PRESENTATION COMPETITION Demonstrators are expected to bring all supplies and materials needed for their demonstration. No kitchen will be available. An easel will be provided. If a poster is brought, the name of the contestant or the home county cannot be on the front of the poster. Demonstration Times: (set minimum times & times not to go over) Cloverbuds – no presentation Junior Presentations 2-4 minutes in length Senior Presentations 3-5 minutes in length Participants may enter as individuals or as a two-person team.
