In April, we will be observing Yom Hashoah and Yom Ha’atzmaut. Yom Hashoah commemorates the six million Jews murdered in the Holocaust, and the heroism of survivors and rescuers. Yom Ha’atzmaut is Israel’s Independence Day. This year is Israel’s 75th Anniversary.
Please join us for a weekend of commemoration and celebration. This weekend is being planned by TBS Programming, Social Action, Sisterhood, Men’s Club, and Adult Education.
Friday, April 28 | 5:30pm | Shabbat Chicken Dinner & Guest Speaker | Ticketed Event: RSVP by 4/18/23 | This evening will include a Shabbat Chicken Dinner and special Guest Speaker, Isidor Juda, a Holocaust Survivor.
Friday, April 28 | 7:15pm Yom HaShoah Commemoration 7:30pm | Shabbat Evening Services | Before services begin, we will be lighting memorial candles followed by Shabbat candles. During services, we will be reading the names of our community’s family who perished and any departed survivors. If you are unable to attend, please submit your loved one’s name(s) by using the form below.
Saturday, April 29 | 9:30am | Shabbat Services, Extended Kiddush & Guest Speaker | As we move away from darkness and into light, on Shabbat we will begin to reflect on Israel’s 75 years of Independence. Following the Kiddush we will be joined by Dina Roginsky, a sociologist and a scholar from Yale University. Roginsky will lead an informational discussion about the 75 years of Israel and the current situation in Israel.
Saturday, April 29 | Doors Open at 7:30pm | Comedy & Klezmer Concert (Ticketed Event) | Laugh with comedy from Rabbi Scolnic (Joke Challenge II) and enjoy music from East Rock Klezmer Band. Desserts and refreshments provided.
