Description

Chinatown in Denver, Colorado, was a residential and business district of Chinese Americans in what is now the LoDo section of the city. The first Chinese resident of Denver arrived in 1869 and lived in a shanty at Wazee and F Streets. Additional Chinese immigrants arrived the following year. The Denver Office of Storytelling has created a documentary commemorating Denver’s Historic Chinatown and, after months of interviews, filming, and editing, is excited to share the completed documentary! About the Denver Office of Storytelling: The Denver Office of Storytelling preserves and shares the history and culture of the city primarily by creating #IAmDenver films in the voices of residents. Through story, the office strives to inform decision-making at City Hall and to uplift community voices for conversation and engagement, particularly around issues of social justice.
