The laughter is coming to Owego when Homebrewed Comedy hits the stage at the John Barleycorn on Wednesday, May 17. Cindy Arena is headlining the show and Gabby Garcia and Connor Swagler are joining host Mike Peters.
The show starts at 7:30 p.m., and there's a recommended $5 donation at the door, which opens at 7. Come out and enjoy the show.
About the comedians:
Mike Peters, a Binghamton comedian, specializes in self-deprecating, observational humor. A contributor for Funny or Die, Peters is the founder of Homebrewed Comedy. He hosts at the Syracuse Funny Bone and Wise Crackers in Wilkes-Barre, Pa., won the Utica Brews Laugh Contest and Uptown Roast Battle and opened for Super Troopers’ Rabbit, Erik Stolhanske and Gilbert Gottfried. Peters produces shows all over New York and hosts his weekly podcasts, On the Mic with Mike Peters and It’s About Time: A Sopranos Watch Podcast.
A native of Nichols, N.Y., Connor Swagler got his start in stand-up in Rochester. He’s been steadily building his arsenal of one-liners and stories -- much to the audiences’ delight. The way Swagler looks is just about how his comedy sounds.
Gabby Garcia is an Upstate New York comedian who placed third in Rochester’s Funniest Person contest in 2022. Garcia will be wearing button-down shirts and making weird faces during awkward poses on a stage somewhere.
Rochester comedian Cindy Arena has only been at it a few years, but she's already made a name for herself as a fan-favorite. A regular at Comedy at the Carlson, Arena was named the Funniest Person in Rochester in 2018. A semifinalist in Buffalo's Funniest in 2019, Arena has opened for Dana Goldberg and Marcella Arguello and has become a regular around New York City.
