Communities around the state are finding ways to expand and share their outdoor and municipal recreation opportunities as a way to boost economic vitality, attract and retain residents, and draw visitors to their towns. Whether it’s a network of mountain bike trails, a local ski hill, an indoor/outdoor pool, or a skating rink; recreation resources serve as a key strategy to attract visitors and residents and boost and support a thriving local economy. Through a variety of panels, peer-to-peer discussions, and trail outings, participants in this conference will: Hear about municipal and outdoor recreation success stories from around the stateAddress and workshop challenges that communities face when expanding and/or marketing recreation opportunitiesIdentify funding sources and technical assistance for local and regional recreationTake a biking or walking tour of a local recreation resource and hear about the formation of the Ascutney Outdoor Trails and Outdoor CenterMorning snacks & lunch will be provided. Coffee, tea and water will be available throughout the day. Click here to go to the conference webpage where you will find a full agenda and presenter bios. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Location We are holding this event at the West Windsor Town Hall, otherwise known as Story Memorial Hall. It is the Town Hall building for the Town of West Windsor and has their town offices located on the lower level. The address of the building is 22 Brownsville-Hartland Road, Brownsville, VT. It's the big, sort of mission-style building at the corner of Rt. 44 and Brownsville-Hartland Rd. Parking There are a few parking options: 1) There are a few spots available at the town hall for those that need to be close by 2) There is parking available along Route 44 and on the shoulder of the Brownsville Hartland Road in front of the church 3) There is the most parking available at the ski area parking lot across from the Ascutney Outdoors Center, which is located at 449 Ski Tow Rd, Brownsville, VT. You'll want to park at the end closest to the "skiers bridge" where the trail to town picks up and will lead you straight to the Town Hall. The walk will take 10 minutes or less. Please be sure to bring appropriate footwear and plan for this time. If you are planning on participating in the bike tour please park in this lot. We also encourage carpooling!
