Description

Latinos are “vastly” underrepresented on corporate boards, especially considering the size of the U.S. Hispanic population. According to a report released by the Latino Corporate Directors Association, Latinos make up 19% of the U.S. population, but in 2020 they held 4.1% of Fortune 500 board seats. The gap is even more stark for Latinas — Latinas held only 1% of board seats on the 2020 Fortune 500. Join the Idaho Latino Young Professionals Network for our first panel event where our panelists will share how to best bring your skills and Latinx representation to the board table. Panelists will also demystify board service and share insights in how to intentionally join a board of directors and jump-start an effective board service. This event will be held in-person on Tuesday, May 2nd from 5:30-7:00 pm MT on the CWI-Nampa campus. Our panel includes: Irma Valdivia, Owner of Jalapeños | Valdivia sits on the Saint Alphonsus Community Board for Nampa, the Canyon County Boys & Girls Club, and the Nampa Chamber of Commerce board.Marisol Cervantes, Training Manager at ZoRoCo Packaging | Cervantes is a Council Member of the National Advisory Council on Migrant Health and has served on the Terry Reilly Health Services Board of Directors since 2018.
