Hello, I'm so glad you found us.
Our one-day retreats give you the opportunity to slow down, connect with your body and self, and deepen your connection to horses and nature. You will be gently supported by Lisa Toman and I, two experienced Equine-Assisted Psychotherapists, with a tremendous love for the natural world, and for our equine friends.
Lisa and I have a trauma-informed approach, with a focus on nervous system restoration, emotional regulation, and the immense benefits of developing a supportive, reciprocal relationship with nature.
You'll explore the day alongside our four brumbies, rescued from the Snowy Mountains- Zulu, Jagumba, Naas, and Tumbarumba. These gentle creatures are experienced in interacting with humans through a space of autonomy and trust. At our property, the horses' autonomy and freedom of expression have the highest priority. We'll support you as you navigate building a relationship with them.
Together we will explore horse-based experiences, nature-immersion, and art therapy activities on our beautiful 80-acre property.
Some areas you can expect to learn about:
Awareness of self and the other
Negotiating healthy boundaries from a centered place of regulation and respect
Developing empathy and self-compassion
Deepening micro-moments of nervous system restoration through connection with nature, throughout your day
Heightening your understanding of the specifics of your nervous system and its patterns
Practical strategies for embodying a slower and richer way of moving through the world
Mindfulness and regulation exercises to use at home
No experience with horses is necessary. Fear, anxiety, and intimidation around horses are all normal and will be supported in many ways.
