Description

Explore your corner of Earth in Roseville's Reservoir Woods Park this Earth Day! This program will blend elements of the Japanese practice of Shinrin Yoku (bathing in the forest atmosphere) and wildlife tracking. Relax your thinking mind and explore the forest with your senses, and learn to read the stories written on earth as we find, identify, and interpret the tracks and sign of local critters. Meet your guide: Kirsten Welge, MPH, WFA is a internationally certified Tracker Level III with Cybertracker Conservation and ANFT-certified Nature & Forest Bathing Guide. Since 2016, she has served as a regular volunteer and facilitator with the Minnesota Wildlife Tracking Project, which hosts monthly Tracking Club and Trailing Practice gatherings in Saint Paul. She also leads wildlife track survey teams and serves as track & sign instructor for student field trips at Cedar Creek Ecosystem Science Reserve in East Bethel. Kirsten also brings a wealth of mind-body training to her guiding. Since 2012, Kirsten has trained in meditation and the peaceful Japanese martial art of Ki Aikido with the Minnesota Ki Society, where she serves as Assistant Head Instructor. Her professional training is in public health, where she served for over 13 years in hospitals and clinics to make care safer, better, and more accessible to people in her communities.
