CAMERA BASICS - APRIL 19 | 6-9PM LIGHTING BASICS - APRIL 26 | 6-9PM THE BUSINESS OF VIDEO PRODUCTION & HOW TO TELL A STORY - MAY 3 | 6-9PM Join us in the Calliope Films Studios for a series of camera classes! In this three session installment, you'll learn camera basics, lighting basics, and the business of production & how to tell a story. You can purchase tickets to one class or all three, but we recommend all three for an optimal experience! Whether you're just getting started or have been shooting for a few years, this course fits multiple skill levels. The overall approach to this class will not be extremely technical, but will be how we have learned to make the images the way we do. The technical jargon always seemed to slow things down and be really intimidating, so we developed our own approach, which is more practical and approachable (don't worry, we will cover some of the terms but we won’t get lost in them). We'll teach you our unique approach while also encouraging you to find your style and take what you learn and add to your arsenal and style. Come to the classes with questions. At the start of each class, we will open it up for questions that we will aim to have answered by the end of each class. ABOUT THE CLASSES Camera Class: April 19th From learning what the buttons do on your camera, to composing shots, we will cover the basics and to more advanced topics. Bring your camera if you have one, and we will help you learn what those buttons do. Lighting Class: April 26th From basic three-point lighting to more stylistic approaches, we will cover what we do to create the looks we're known for. Again, trying to approach it with a more practical and less technical approach, we will really pull back the curtain on what we do to get the look Calliope look. The Business of Filmmaking & How to Tell a Story: May 3rd Now that you have learned your camera settings, shot composition and lighting, let’s combine the two and utilize those techniques to amplify your storytelling. If you are trying to make a living behind the camera, we will also dip into what it takes to make it in this field in both small and large markets.
