Description
"Difficult Community Conversations" training program is being offered by the NCW Equity Alliance, with facilitation and instruction from the Wenatchee Valley Dispute Resolution Center. The training will feature the study and practice of the mediation process for use in challenging community conversations. Participants will learn listening and communication skills for community engagement; study conflict dynamics and styles; and learn how to practice conflict resolution skills for de-escalation and peaceful problem solving. The training also will cover next steps for community engagement, including identifying issues that have led to community divisiveness in North Central Washington, along with ways to restore community dialogue around those issues. Schedule: Tuesday, May 9: 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., in person at the Wenatchee Valley Dispute Resolution Center, 5 S. Wenatchee Ave., Suite 210, Wenatchee Thursday, May 11: 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., in person at the Wenatchee Valley Dispute Resolution Center Tuesday, May 16: 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., in person at the Wenatchee Valley Dispute Resolution Center Thursday, May 18: 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., in person at the Wenatchee Valley Dispute Resolution Center Tuesday, May 23: 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., in person at the Wenatchee Valley Dispute Resolution Center Thursday, May 25: 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., in person at the Wenatchee Valley Dispute Resolution Center Eligibility: Open to all individuals and organizations engaged in North Central Washington life. Participants should possess some knowledge of DEI, and be interested in seeing their community develop a greater sense of belonging, connection and cohesion. These classes are not intended to teach people about what DEI means or entails. Participation: While it is not required, and things do come up in people's lives that create scheduling conflicts, we are encouraging people to attend all of the sessions. Capacity: There is space for 20 participants (no more than two participants from an single organization) Cost: $150 per person. Limited scholarships are available.
