Description
**This event is free and open to all. While hosted at the university, we hope to create a diverse space welcoming people from beyond just this campus, from all ages, backgrounds, and beliefs. Is gender equality a social issue, or is it also fundamentally a spiritual one – not just about rights, but about truth? Across religious tradition, it is understood that humanity was made in God’s image. Yet throughout history that same humanity has often moved away from believing in and promoting this essential equality. How does knowing individuals as spiritual beings shape our view of equality? How can we work to ensure that we are building spiritual communities where everyone has the same opportunities to grow and develop and to contribute to the advancement of us all? Come join a different kind of conversation – one that welcomes every perspective in a search for the truths that unite us all – as we discuss the spiritual perspective offered by the Bahá’í Teachings on the essential equality of the sexes. Join us for a lively discussion as we explore how achieving that equality is needed for all of humanity to progress and reach its full potential. “The world of humanity has two wings – one is women and the other men. Not until both wings are equally developed can the bird fly. Should one wing remain weak, flight is impossible. ” – Bahá’í Teachings *** Donations will not be accepted. -------------------------------------- Our location is: Western Washington University, 516 High St, Bellingham, WA 98225 - Viking Union Room 462. * For navigation devices use specific location names like "Parking Lot C" or "Viking Union" instead of the address. * Parking is free in Lot C after 4:30 pm (15 min walk), or you can pay $2/hour for Lot 6V (closer).
