Louisiana's coast is in crisis. Since the 1930s, it has shrunk over 2,000 miles, now averaging a loss equivalent to a football field of land per day. This speaker series reflects on the historical and current complications faced by coastal communities in Louisiana and the ways that scholars have attempted to study, assist, or mitigate the effects of this coastal crisis. The Coast in Crisis Speaker Series is sponsored by the J. J. Burdin & Helen B. Burdin Professorship in Louisiana Studies and the Center for Louisiana Studies.
