Food Justice & Faith Panel - Bigger Than The Next Meal:Planting Seeds for Food Justice 9:00 a.m. - 11:30 a.m.
Many churches and community organizations bring critical emergency food assistance to those in need. In fact, it’s been a part of the cornerstone of Christian charity to feed the hungry. However, the coronavirus pandemic exposed the limits of charity. With food supply chain interruptions, the continuing impacts of climate change, racial injustices against Black farmers, and federal funding for pandemic-era food programs being discontinued; it’s clear that something more than food charity is needed now. In this conversation, we will swim upstream to explore the root causes of food insecurity and dream together about sustainable solutions that will satisfy our hunger beyond the next meal.
