Description

Silicon Valley Bicycle Coalition and the San José Conservation Corps + Charter School are partnering up for an intermediate-level ride, a creek clean-up, and food! This unique event will bring trail users along for a ride with front-line maintenance workers, and showcase all the work that the Conservation Corps members do to sustain our trail system throughout San José. We'll also share information about the concept of a "trail hotline" that is in development - your chance to lend your thoughts to a service that allows trail users to immediately report hazards or trail conditions needing attention. Trails can be our tree-shaded havens from car-heavy streets, but they do not maintain themselves! Join us for a morning of riding along with the Corps members. Here's the gameplan: We will meet at 8:30 AM at 2650 Senter Road to load up trailers with trail maintenance gear, and hear about SJCC's Trail WorkWe'll ride from 2650 Senter Rd to the Guadalupe River Trail along urban streets - please be prepared for busy streets with bike lanes. We recommend wearing high viz colors and a helmet. Litter removal component: Part of this event will include dismounting from our bikes to help clean up a trail or open space, to get a hands-on sense of the responsibilities of the Corps members. Our route will be up to 10 miles long, and may go along both trails and city streets. This is an intermediate-level ride.Interested in volunteering to help make this ride happen? When you get your ticket, register as a Volunteer Ride Leader to wear a vest, ride as a middle support or a sweep, and be trained in Ride Leadership. Volunteer Ride Leaders are expected to arrive no later than 8:30 AM
