Thanks to the generous support of the Michigan Natural Resources Trust Fund, landowner Robert Chandonnet, his daughters, Suzette Colon and Deanna Chandonnet, and YOU, Muskegon County has acquired the entire 377 acres of the Nugent Sand property. This beautiful property includes two large inland lakes and 1,660 feet on Lake Michigan. The South Lake is encircled by a 2.2-mile hiking trail. Two fully paved parking lots have already been constructed for visitors. The South Lake portion of the park opened to the public in March 2022. On June 3rd, we invite you to celebrate the ribbon cutting for the North Lake portion of the park. Please RSVP to let us know you will attend. This is an outdoor event; dress for the weather.
