Description

The WSU Extension Master Gardener Program is proudly celebrating 50-years of engaging university-trained volunteers to empower and sustain diverse communities with relevant, unbiased, research-based horticulture and environmental stewardship education. Since 1973 the Extension Master Gardener Program has had an impact on communities across the US and internationally to increase food security, mitigate the decline of pollinators, and promote integrated pest management, water conservation, and sustainable gardening practices. Today we are an international volunteer force with over 80,000 university trained volunteers using science-based knowledge and practices to empower healthy and resilient communities. We hope you’ll join us for our fun and informative 50th anniversary celebration event at the Wenatchee Community Education Garden located on the campus of WSU Tree Fruit Research and Extension Center at 1100 N. Western in Wenatchee Visit docents in various gardens to learn about topics such as “How to Grow Blue Ribbon Tomatoes”, “Growing Cut Flowers”, “Tree of Heaven and Other Noxious Weeds”, and over twenty other topics. There will be a youth area with fun learning activities for the kids. Home Depot will be on-site to help kids build wooden planters, and our master gardeners will help them plant them. There is something for the whole family! Come meet WSU’s College of Agricultural, Human, and Natural Resource Sciences (CAHNRS) Dean, Wendy Powers, Jennifer Marquis, the Extension Master Gardener State Program Lead, and researchers from the WSU Tree Fruit Research and Extension Center We are proud to have JP Portrait Studio there to photograph the event. They will have a photo op set for individual and group photos. And of course, there will be refreshments! We hope you’ll join us!
