Please join us to commemorate the completion and grand opening of our newest building, our 34,000-square-foot Art Complex. Beginning at 10 a.m., our celebration will feature a ribbon cutting ceremony, remarks from members of our board of trustees, administrators, faculty and students, and local dignitaries; refreshments; and tours of the new facilities.  Our spring student art show reception and awards ceremony will follow at 12 p.m. Details below; we hope you can stick around for the continued festivities! About the Art Complex Located next to the Kinesiology/Athletics Complex on the northeast corner of the Pleasant Hill campus, the Art Complex brings all DVC art programs under one roof.  The building was designed by HMC Architects with the first floor featuring sculpture and ceramics with the associated outdoor learning spaces, and two-dimensional subjects such as photography and printmaking. The second floor hosts the spaces designated for digital art such as the production studio and computer labs, as well as two-dimensional art such as painting and drawing and the art history classrooms.  Student art is accessible and displayed at the prominent entry into the Art Gallery, promoting student work and exhibitions for community at large.   The building is all electric, zero-net-energy LEED and is supported by an all-electric central utility plant, as part of our Districtwide sustainability and energy conservation goals.  It’s an exciting day at DVC!
