Description
BBQ without Borders 2023 is a place to celebrate immigration through the lens of regional Barbecue. Featuring Chef Lilly Duran of Clandestina Cocina, Chef Ron Dumra of Wah Jee Wah and Chef Tadayuki of the former Family Cafe; we will be serving delicious Cuban, Japanese and Indian BBQ (both vegetarian and non vegetarian options) along with specialty desserts, signature cocktails, beer, wine and sake. Live entertainment will take place throughout the night- we will have Taiko drummers, a Cuban Salsa band, Bhangra, Flamenco and even a little opera! We will also have an immersive exhibit exploring the lives and stories of our featured Chefs, a kids activities center, a raffle of amazing prizes and an interactive art exhibit. Optional vegan without yogurt Option 3 Local California lamb chop Marinated in tandoori herbs and spices, Grilled over mesquite, Scoop of rice, pickled salad, chutney Chef Tadayuki : Option 1 Grilled Chicken Thigh and Green Onions with tare sauce(soy sauce-based sauce) marinated in Japanese shichimi spice served with a side of Japanese Pickle (napa cabbage, carrots, turnips, mayer lemon) on a bed of Greens Option 2 (Vegan) Grilled Rice ball with Tare and Seaweed, served with a side of Japanese pickle (napa cabbage, carrots, turnips, Mayer lemon) on a bed of Greens Option 3: Tukune - is chicken meat ball on skewers, served with a side of Japanese pickle (napa cabbage, carrots, turnips, Mayer lemon) on a bed of Greens Chef Lilly Duran: Option 1 Lechon (that is the whole roasted pork) served with a side of Congris and Tostones & Tropical Slaw Option 2 Grilled fish in coconut sauce and plantain leaves taino style served with a side of Congris and Tostones & Tropical Slaw Option 3 (Vegan) Grilled Sweet Potato with herbs and mojo criollo served with a side of Congris and Tostones & Tropical Slaw Sides (Vegan and gluten free) Congris ( rice and black beans cooked together, sofrito, cumin, oregano) Tostones & tropical slaw (smashed and deep fried green plantains topped with a mix of cabbage, white onion, mango, coconut shredded with a mint cilantro sauce)
