The Civilian Response to Active Shooter Events (CRASE) course, designed and built on the Avoid, Deny Defend (ADD) strategy developed by Advanced Law Enforcement Rapid Response Training (ALERRT) in 2004, provides strategies, guidance and a proven plan for surviving an active shooter event.
Instructor: Detective Sergeant Black, Laconia Police Department
Ben Black is a graduate of the 134th New Hampshire Police Standards and Training Counsel Police Academy. He has been a Laconia Police Officer for over 19 years and has held various positions in the department starting with a Patrol officer, Field Training Officer, Master Patrol Officer and Patrol Sergeant. He currently is the Detective Sergeant overseeing the Bureau of Criminal Investigations. He is certified in Active Shooter Response for Law Enforcement from Sig Sauer and trains community members in how to respond to an Active Shooting/Active Killing Event.
