Many of us would like to feel more grounded, but we are rarely reminded that this capacity to ground is rooted in our relationship with Earth – the original ground. This is an experiential workshop, facilitated by an ecopsychologist, for people looking to deepen their relationship with nature and place or explore that relationship for the first time. Ecopsychology is a school of psychology that recognizes the interdependence of human well-being with the well-being of the Earth: When we intentionally connect with the ecosystems we’re part of, both we and the planet benefit. Practices will be offered in this spirit of mutual healing for participants and the Earth, and attendees can expect activities that place body and mind into dialogue with nature, calm the nervous system, and foster intuition, imagination, and wonder. This event is for participants 16 and older. Group size will be limited to 15. The workshop will be held outdoors and will have an optional walking or light hiking component, but all practices will be adaptable to sitting or lying down. Please bring an outdoor chair or supports for sitting comfortably on the ground (yoga mats, blankets, pillows/bolsters etc.). If you plan to sit on the ground, I highly recommend bringing an outdoor chair as a backup option in case the lawn is damp. If you would like to hike on trails during any of the activities, please dress for light hiking. This workshop is weather-dependent. Should the original date be rained out, participants will be contacted about a rain date on another weekend in May. While the facilitator is a practicing therapist, this is not a therapy group, and therapeutic processing will not take place. Tickets are free.
