From Microaggressions to Microinterventions: First Steps for Interpersonal and Institutional Inclusion (Community Leaders Addition)Session Description:Interpersonal interactions in agencies and communities have the power to encourage or interrupt the trust that is required for effective, inclusive work. In this training, local leaders will learn how to identify, demystify and combat microaggressions in their areas of influence. Participants will practice microresistance strategies with common case examples and leave with training tools to encourage ongoing, embedded inclusion efforts in their fields of service.
Presented by:Kerri Fisher is the Associate Dean of Diversity Equity and Inclusion and Senior Lecturer at the Garland School of Social Work at Baylor. She has a passion for ongoing, embodied teaching and training, particularly in the areas of antioppressive practice and aspiring allyship. She is a regularly invited speaker on topics including cultural humility, intersectionality, mechanisms of oppression, and DEI. As a creative writer and podcaster, Kerri explores the intersections of race, spirituality, and identity.
