Lark & Owl Booksellers welcomes community members to a discussion of what must be done to overcome racism in America. Author Rev. Lou Snead, Professor Brian Bolton, Monique Parker, and Rev. Dr. Bobby Hulme-Lippert will share their ideas, and discuss difficult topics from their own unique perspectives and backgrounds. Reserve your spot for this free event! Copies of CONFESSIONS OF A RECOVERING RACIST will be available for purchase. About Rev. Lou Snead:Lou is a native of Jacksonville, Florida where he graduated from high school in 1965. After Army basic training, he attended community college and then Florida Technological University (now Central Florida University) where he earned a BA degree in humanities. Lou then entered a Master’s degree program in religion at Florida State University and became a candidate for ministry in the Presbyterian Church U.S. To prepare for the ministry he attended Colgate Rochester Divinity School and graduated with an M. Div degree in 1978. In his 35 years in ministry, Lou served Presbyterian churches in Virginia and Texas, retiring in 2012. He lives with his wife in a 55+ retirement community in Georgetown, Texas. About Rev. Dr. Bobby Hulme-Lippert:Rev. Dr. Bobby Hulme-Lippert grew up in Cincinnati, OH. He later received degrees from Davidson College (B.A. in History), and Fuller Theological Seminary (MDiv, 2007 and DMin, 2017). Bobby was ordained in 2008 and previously served as an Associate Pastor in Decatur, GA and Pastor/Head of Staff in Richmond, VA. He has also served as a Chaplain in the US Army Reserves. In 2019, Bobby was called to First Presbyterian Church, and he is humbled and thrilled to be sharing in ministry alongside such a remarkable community faith! Bobby is married to Michelle Hulme-Lippert, and they have two sons, Leo and Logan, and one mini-schnauzer/Yorkie mix, Dexter. About Monique Parker: Monique is the Founder and CEO of Blow Candle Co.. She started making candles in June of 2020 after her brother passed away. What began as hobby quickly turned into a business and made Monique an accidental entrepreneur! Monique has previously worked in Diversity and Inclusion for a variety of corporations. About Brian Bolton:Brian Bolton is a retired research psychologist and university professor living in Georgetown, Texas. His academic contributions have been recognized by universities and psychological societies. Bolton is retired after a 35-year career in academia. He was an assistant professor of psychology at the Illinois Institute of Technology from 1968 to 1971. From 1971 to 2002, Bolton was a professor of rehabilitation and an adjunct professor of psychology at the University of Arkansas.
