Description

Join us on April 21 from 11am - 1pm for TRIBUTARIES OF CARE FOR GADSDEN CREEK, where we will gather as a community to celebrate Earth Day by cleaning up litter from the creek's banks, lifting up its history, and standing together for its preservation. We invite you to join us beside Gadsden Creek, an ever-resilient salt marsh and important community resource that provides habitat for numerous species, including fish, crabs, shellfish, and birds. The event will begin with a call to rise up by Charleston's own vocalist and performing artist, Ann Caldwell. We recognize the power of what can happen when different organizations and individuals come together like tributaries to form a river that inspires REAL ACTION to save Gadsden Creek, and we'd love for you to be a part of that! The event begins at 11am; please arrive a few minutes early to park and get signed in. We will meet at the corner of Fishburne and Hagood Avenue at Harmon Field. Harmon Field is located at 210 President Street, Charleston, South Carolina. Be sure to wear closed-toed shoes, wear a hat/sunscreen, and bring your own reusable water bottle. All ages are welcome but children must be supervised by a parent. All clean up materials are generously provided by the South Carolina Aquarium. Hosted by: SC Environmental Law Project, Friends of Gadsden Creek, Charleston Area Justice Ministry, and the South Carolina Aquarium. Images courtesy of Olivia Rae James.
