Mumford and Associates, LLC believes that young people can make a difference in the ongoing youth mental health crisis. Utilizing our 3 E approach to public health education, we will equip them with the knowledge, skills and abilities to do so. On May 18, 100 teens will begin the certification process for teen Mental Health First Aid (Educate). These young people will have the opportunity to serve on the inaugural Health-Concious Youth Task Force (Engage), where they will receive additonal training to prepare them for service to the youth community (Empower). Students will learn how to: Recognize early warning signs that a friend is developing a mental health or substance use challenge. Recognize warning signs that a friend may be experiencing a mental health or substance use crisis. Talk to a friend about mental health and seeking help. Discuss where to find appropriate and helpful resources about mental health challenges and professional help. Apply the tMHFA Action Plan to help a friend with a mental health or substance use challenge or crisis.
