The laughter is coming to Owego when Homebrewed Comedy hits the stage at the John Barleycorn on Wednesday, May 3. Karen Rontowski is headlining the show and Dan Mullen and Steve Burke are joining host Mike Peters. The show starts at 7:30 p.m., and there's a recommended $5 donation at the door, which opens at 7. Come out and enjoy the show. About the comedians: Mike Peters, a Binghamton comedian, specializes in self-deprecating, observational humor. A contributor for Funny or Die, Peters is the founder of Homebrewed Comedy. He hosts at the Syracuse Funny Bone and Wise Crackers in Wilkes-Barre, Pa., won the Utica Brews Laugh Contest and Uptown Roast Battle and opened for Super Troopers’ Rabbit, Erik Stolhanske and Gilbert Gottfried. Peters produces shows all over New York and hosts his weekly podcasts, On the Mic with Mike Peters and It’s About Time: A Sopranos Watch Podcast. Steve Burke is a roast-battle champion and headliner of the first Night of Debauchery, Burke is a founding member of Itha-ha comedy group. A member of the ComedyFLOPS improv group and an actor, Burke produces and hosts shows all over Ithaca, including a weekly spot at The Dock. Burke is a consistent crowd favorite, has performed at the Funny Bone and was featured in the 2018 SoloCom in New York City. One of the finest comedians in Elmira, Dan Mullen has a sharp mind and clever writing style that doesn’t disappoint an audience. With a steady stream of jokes that’ll make you think and keep you entertained, Mullen has delighted crowds all over New York. Mullen’s a regular in the Ithaca scene, was a finalist in the Funniest Person in Rochester contest in 2015 and is a contributing writer for Funny or Die. Karen Rontoswki’s stand-up showcases endearing, self-effacing and intelligent characters that catch you by surprise every time. She uniquely blends comedy with her experience as a Paranormal Investigator, Tarot and reiki master. Rontowski has appeared on The Late Show with David Letterman, Sirius Satellite Radio, Comics Unleashed, Comedy.com, Live at Gotham, Comedy Central and Mysteries of the Unexplained.
