As we end this blessed month, you're invited to a special Iftar (sunset feast) with elected and other leaders from the District of Columbia, Maryland and Virginia. On Wednesday, April 19, 2023, from 6:30 PM - 9:30 PM, meet and network with leaders from across the DC Region. The focus of this year's DMV Unity Iftar is to call on government and business leaders alike to invest more in ending violence both in our neighborhoods and in Palestine. Residents of the National Capital Region are uniquely impacted by violence at home and in Palestine. Enjoy networking with government and business leaders, delicious food and desserts by the legendary Sweet Tooth Catering while working for peace at home and in the Middle East. Hear from local groups and leaders about ideas for redirecting taxpayer dollars to invest more in ending violence in our communities and in Palestine. Also celebrate leaders across the region for their public service. This special event is hosted by the Chairman of the District of Columbia Council Phil Mendelson and organized by the Academy of Muslim Achievement (AMA). For the past decade, AMA has produced successful Iftar events at the Wilson Building and in other government offices. Last year, we hosted, with the support of leaders like Islamic Relief, a well-attended Iftar at the IMAAM Center in downtown Silver Spring, MD.
