Blacksmithing Fundamentals Come learn the art of blacksmithing in a fun, enthusiastic, and inclusive environment! Pound out the stress of the year as you learn to properly swing a hammer, forge metal, and have fun shaping hot steel! Safe work habits and protective gear will be emphasized while making basic projects out of forged steel. Instruction will encompass the basics of blacksmithing including: tapering, twisting, bending, slitting, drifting and riveting. Students can expect to make focused objects as they learn important techniques that every smith uses when stepping up to the anvil. Classes are open to students of all skill levels and limited to 8 participants. We will provide everything you need to have an exciting experience in the forge. Expect to leave with basic forging skills and a new vocabulary needed to forge hot steel. No experience necessary, but we’re prepared to challenge you with new techniques if you know your way around an anvil.. Ages: 16+ ___________________________________________________________________________________________________ Pot Rack Wrap Up with Ryan WoodallWednesdays, April 19 and 26___________________________________________________________________________________________________ Coffee Scoop with Ryan WoodallThis course is designed to take a student with no prior experience and teach them how to create an object of both beauty and utility. In the creation of this coffee scoop, students will learn the basics of tapering, texturing, and dishing in addition to drilling and riveting. While this course is designed with beginners in mind, there are several decorative modifications that can be made to the basic design for returning students who are hoping to hone their artisan skills.
