IT'S TIME FOR ANOTHER FIELD TRIP!And it's time to reconnect with the friends you made at last month's Future of Mushrooms Unconference. We've got another field trip coming up that – while not quite mushroom specific – is certainly mushroom adjacent. On Saturday, May 6th, from 10 AM till 12 Noon, the Grow Generation Hydroponics and Garden Center will open their doors to us – and us alone – to provide a full tour of their facility. Grow Generation stocks everything that a cannabis grower might need – except for seeds and clones – to get a cultivation of any size going. Grow Generation caters to hobbyist gardeners, commercial cultivators, hydroponics enthusiasts, and local plant shops in the Portland area. And though the focus of Grow Generation has tended towards the cannabis world, there is a huge amount of overlap between cannabis cultivation and mushroom cultivation, and this field trip will help in illuminating the commonalities. Todd Bolt will be on hand to give the tour (b.t.w.: Todd was an attendee at both the Unconference and the Afterglow event), and will take the time to answer any and all questions you might have about his store, along with the products and services provided by Grow Generation. But this tour will be much more than just show 'n' tell.Todd has an analytical mind, and can provide deep insights into the cannabis industry and cannabis cultivation. This is an opportunity to get the 411 on commercial cultivation, hobbyist grows, infrastructure requirements, and the financials of cannabis. Todd can also highlight those shared elements of both mushroom and cannabis cultivation. Do bring along an extra layer of warm clothing. The Grow Generation store is set within a large warehouse space, and things might be a bit chilly, early on a Saturday morning. The tour is free, though we do ask that you register for tickets on Eventbrite. Having a headcount helps with the planning for this gathering. WHEN: May 6th, 2023. Starting at 10 AM, and wrapping somewhere between 11:30 AM and noon. WHERE: 11564 SW Pacific Hwy, Suite C, Tigard, OR 97223 PARKING: There is plenty of parking in and around the building. NEARBY COFFEE: There is a Black Rock Coffee (with a walk up window) just one block to the North-East on Hwy 99, and there's also a Starbucks across the street/highway in the Fred Meyers shopping complex. AFTERWARDS: There are several restaurants and food carts within walking distance of Grow Generation, and if any attendees are interested in doing a group lunch after the tour, it would take just a few minutes to head out for Thai, Mexican, or Hawaiian food.
