Read Across Madisonville 2023A WHOLE NEW WORLD: LITERACY THROUGH THE LENS OF A CHILD John P. Parker Elementary School, Rising Stars of America & Madisonville Education and Assistant Center, Kennedy Heights Arts Center and The Summit Hotel invites you to join us at Read Across Madisonville 2023. This fun, free family-friendly event for all will take place on Thursday, April 27, 2023 at 5:00 PM at The Summit, A Dolce Hotel- MedPace Campus, 5345 MedPace Way, Cincinnati, OH 45227. The annual community-wide celebration showcases the importance of literacy and families spending quality time together. The theme this year is “A Whole New World: Literacy Through the Lens of a Child” to encompass both the importance of literacy and celebrating Autism Awareness. April is National Autism Acceptance month and is “a nationwide effort to draw attention and promote autism awareness, inclusion and self-determination for all, and assure that each person with ASD is provided the opportunity to achieve the highest possible quality of life.” There are approximately 70 million recognized cases of autism worldwide. This condition occurs one in every 54 children as of 2020 in the United States. Autism spectrum disorder (ASD) is a developmental disability caused by differences in the brain. People with ASD often have problems with social communication and interaction, and restricted or repetitive behaviors or interests. Autism can be present from birth or form during early childhood (typically within the first three years). Autism is a lifelong developmental disability with no single known cause. A wide spectrum disorder, people with autism have set of symptoms unique to themselves; no two people are the same.
