Description
The Upcycle Challenge brings local designers and DIY experts together to transform Habitat ReStore items into one-of-a-kind designer pieces. Upon completion, the transformations will be for sale at our store with 100% of the proceeds going toward supporting our mission of building affordable homes in Fairfield County for families in need of a home. How It Works: We will give you a $100 credit at the Danbury ReStore to "buy" furniture and materials that you can use to upcycle your project: paint a dresser, transform a lamp, reupholster a chair, strip and stain a table. Your project, your choice. We have a limited selection of paint, hardware, wallpaper and fabric on hand, but you can also use your own supplies for the project. After the transformation you will donate the item back to the ReStore, with all sales benefiting the Housatonic Habitat for Humanity. Completed creations must be returned to the ReStore between April 13th and 20th. ReStore will showcase the items at our Earth Day UpCycle Challenge Reveal on Saturday 4/22/2023 , which is when they will be available for purchase by the public. All participants will be invited to attend the reveal and sale on April 22nd to participate in the big day! We will have special workshops for customers and DIYers. Refreshments will be served. How to Enter: Stop by the ReStore, come to the cash register and complete an entry form and have fun picking out your item(s). The options are only limited by your imagination! Deadline to enter the challenge is March 24. We can not wait to see what you come up with! What’s in It for You: Join the Cause! Help build awareness of the Housatonic Habitat for Humanity, which in turn builds affordable homes in our community. Networking: Join the fun with fellow DIYers, artists and professionals, build relationships and a sense of community in your area of expertise. We will cross promote the challenge on social media, building awareness of the ReStore, as well as your business and artistry. We will plug each of the participants on Facebook and Instagram over the course of the campaign. So raise your paintbrush in support of the Housatonic Habitat for Humanity! We look forward to working with our local DIY and professional designers, furniture flippers and artists. Contact [email protected] ( Val Quartaro) for further information. Katie at Sincerely KatieK, one of our past participants chose this piece to transform. Our friends at PotterReBarn did an amazing job with this makeover! We love how creative this participant was with the materials he found at the ReStore! Another beautiful transformation!
