Description

Join us for the launch of the Merced Digital Empowerment Coalition (DEC) to ignite the development of Merced County’s digital inclusion ecosystem through empowerment, alignment, coordination, and amplification of local digital inclusion efforts. More specifically, Merced DEC’s purpose is to: Educate the community and policy-makers about digital empowerment and inclusion efforts, local and regional data, local barriers, and current approaches to digital inclusion. Help create a Digital Empowerment Plan for the region to align with federal and state dollars. Promote professional development, strategically-aligned programming, and advocacy. Meet the needs of the members through networking, collaborative goal setting, awareness, and resource development Digital empowerment is necessary for civic and cultural participation, employment and workforce training, lifelong learning, access to essential services, and entrepreneurship and business development. Digital empowerment is a condition in which all individuals and communities have the information technology capacity needed for full and meaningful participation in society, democracy, and the economy.
