About the Artist
Coach Jah Smalls has become a cornerstone in the poetry community in Charlotte, NC. From open mic to slam poetry events Jah has shown an exceptional commitment to the craft which includes the National Poetry Month's first month long celebration at the main library in uptown Charlotte. As a co-founder of Grannae's Boyz and a member of the Guerilla Poets nonprofit organization, Jah is one of the very few poets who has opened doors to and for all poets including those who are non-competition poets (which is very unusual for the poetry scene in the Charlotte area). Of the many great experiences during this poetic journey, surely one of the most exciting and humbling moments was sharing the same stage with the the phenomenal NC State Poet Laureate Jaki Shelton Green in Salisbury, NC. As a member of the newly organized trio Pen-Men-Ship with fellow poet and biological bro Mr. Witz the poet and the incomparable AJ Houston of "Not Just Alphabet Publishing" out of Las Vegas NV (who launched the first of a series of books dedicated to telling the stories of our Military veterans)( "Trigger Warnings").
Pen-Men-Ship is set on a course to publish several amazing poetry book during this year so stay tuned.
"It only takes a little change to make some change." - Jah Smalls
