Description

Join us for a free showing of Miss Virginia, dinner, snacks, and fun giveaways, and learn about how a new K-12 scholarship program could cover the cost of private school or homeschooling for Texas families. Miss Virginia (2019) is an inspiring film about the life and work of Virginia Walden Ford, a mother and activist who spent decades advocating for a school choice program in Washington, DC. Thousands of children in the nation's capital now have access to a greater educational opportunities that they otherwise could not afford. Her story continues to inspire many parents across the country who simply believe that their kids deserve educational options, and they deserve a say in their kids' education. Parents know what's best for their kids—and while Texas has a lot of great public schools, sometimes an assigned public school isn't the right fit. Parents, regardless of their income, know their children's unique educational needs best, and should be able to select the best option for their kids! That's why, like Miss Virginia, we're working to pass a new program in Texas this year that would give parents who want to choose a different school option an "Educational Savings Account." ESAs help cover the cost of private school or homeschooling. If you're interested in bringing ESAs to Texas, join us on Thursday, April 27th at 6 PM a the Port Arthur Civic Center for a FREE family movie night! We are the Institute for Justice, a nonprofit that works alongside parents to support educational choice programs. To learn more, visit us at IJ.org.
