Growin' On Faith Farm and the Council for Healthy Food Systems hosts another free workshop in our Profiting From Conservation series. There is a stipend of $500 available to attendees who attend four of the workshops in our Profiting Through Conservation series, one Resource Meeting, and fill out all surveys.
Learning topics to include:
Conservation practices and benefits of backyard chickens, Some common poultry breeds and purposes, Baby chick care, Shelter options, Fencing options, Predator identification and control, Pasture rotation, Euthanization, Scalding, Plucking, Evisceration, and Packaging.
The class is free but you do have to attend 90% of the class to receive credit for the class to qualify for the $500 stipend. The chickens are $25 to process (per bird) and take home in a vacuum sealed, freezer safe bag. Lunch, Gatorade, and water will be provided, but if you are interested in other munchies, feel free to bring your own.
