AboutWe are excited to announce the first-ever San Diego OneWheel Enduro Race 2023. This is an ≈ 50-mile race loop through some of the most beautiful areas and stunning views of San Diego County. Racers will ride on trails, bike paths, and streets with multiple checkpoints and charging spots. Register and race for a chance to win some awesome prizes from several of our amazing sponsors. Race RulesAll racers must register and pay the entry fee on Eventbrite to participate in the race. The entry fees will go towards race expenses, prizes for the winners, and the after-party.All racers must be over the age of 18. Only OneWheels are eligible to enter the race. The race is open to OneWheel GT, CBXR, JWXR, VNR or similar (w/ exceptions*), and VESC boards. Stock XRs are eligible but will need to bring portable charging units or board banks to complete the race. Pint, Pint X, OneWheel Plus, and OneWheel V1 will not be able to complete the race.Switching out OneWheels is not allowed. All racers must ride the same OneWheel throughout the race.All racers must record their race ride, using both the OneWheel app and Ride Hermes app, for the entire duration of the race. The winners' race recordings will be verified at the finish line. Incomplete or missing race recordings may result in disqualification. It is advised to check race recordings at every checkpoint to make sure the recording hasn’t stopped or disconnected. Racers are not allowed to start their OneWheel app or Ride Hermes app ride recordings before the race starts to increase the mileage recorded.All racers must stop at the pre-determined checkpoints (see Checkpoints and Charge Spots section), in the correct order, along the race route. Racers must take a picture of themselves at each checkpoint landmark and submit the picture while at the checkpoint to the race organizers via the San Diego OneWheel Enduro Race Instagram or text message (number will be provided). This is required for ranking and verification, missed checkpoints will result in disqualification. Racers are allowed to diverge from the recommended route, but they must visit all the checkpoints in the correct order and ride at least 50 miles to qualify for winning. Don’t miss any checkpoints and don’t let your phone die during the race.Winners will be divided into two categories for both Men and Women who will compete for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place prizes and titles. Category #1: First Across the Line (FAL)*. Category #2: Time on Board (TOB) for a total of 12 winners. There will not be any other divisions such as Groms, Clydesdales, Legends, etc. *VNR or boards that can be charged while riding is excluded from competing in the FAL category, and are only allowed to compete in the TOB category.Racers must check in at 7 AM. The rules will be covered at 7:15 AM sharp. The race will begin at 8 AM sharp. All racers will start at the same time.Absolutely no physical contact between racers is allowed. Pushing, bumping, etc. will result in disqualification. The lead rider has the right to their line, racers must pass without making contact with the lead rider or other racers. Accidental or involuntary contact will not result in disqualification.Racers are not allowed to touch, disturb, or otherwise alter other racer’s OneWheel or gear. Racers are not allowed to unplug other racer’s OneWheel when charging, let the air out of their tires, or change their OW riding modes while charging. Messing with other racer’s OneWheel or gear will result in disqualification.Charging spots are first come, first serve but racers are required to share outlets via power strips and splitters for up to 3 OneWheel. Adding more than 3 OneWheels per outlet may cause the circuit to blow. Unplugging any OneWheel besides your own is not allowed for any reason, you must find the owner of the OneWheel that is plugged in and have them unplug it in order to share the outlet via a power strip or splitter. Outlets must be prioritized for charging OneWheels, phones, and other electronics must yield charging spots to OneWheels if needed. It is recommended to bring a portable charger for your phone.Racers must ride only a OneWheel during the race. Riding in or on any other type of vehicle will result in disqualification. If your battery dies you must carry your OneWheel to a charging spot, racers cannot ride in cars or other vehicles including Uber/Lyft will result in disqualification.All items used for the race, except consumables such as food and water, must be carried by the racer for the entire duration of the race. Racers must carry their own chargers and gear, having someone else meet up to bring chargers or gear to racers is not allowed. Racers are not allowed to drop off chargers or gear to someone else mid-race. A chase car or support vehicles are not allowed.Racers will need to navigate the route on their own during the race, there will not be any leaders or guides (except for the trail sections). Studying and learning the route in advance will help to ensure you navigate the streets and to the finish line.By registering for “The San Diego OneWheel Enduro Race”, participants assume full liability and responsibility for their own health and safety during the race. Participants agree to ride as safely as possible at all times, especially when riding around other racers, traffic, and pedestrians. Participants understand that the race route contains steep rocky trails, crowded bike paths, and busy streets. Participants agree to not hold the race organizers or other participants liable or responsible for any accidents, injuries, physical damage, or property damage sustained during the race. Participants agree to be safe, know their limits, and will not sue anyone involved in the race.Rules are subject to change at the discretion of the race organizers up until the day of the race. Rule changes will be communicated fully to registered racers. The race rules will be covered in person before the race begins.
