Description

DESCRIPTION: Its April and Herban Adventures is back…with a vengeance. Our hiking path will take us through 3 downtown waterfront parks: Olympic Sculpture Park, Myrtle Edwards Park, and Elliott Bay Park. So come out for a chill hike on the Seattle waterfront—the perfect way to get some exercise incorporated into your Sunday Funday. Our slower-paced social walks are an extremely popular way to meet others in a safe, outdoor setting. Breathe deep, relax, and enjoy while getting some fresh air and exercise. Event is free to attend, but you must RSVP. We will proceed to the trail which is mostly paved. The trail is approximately 3 miles long with around 70 feet of gain and should take around 1.5 hours to complete. Why “only” 3 miles+/- and 70 feet+/- gain? Because it makes our events accessible to more people and community is the core of our events. There may be some hills, but we’ll climb them at our own pace and stay together as a group. No hiker left behind! Beginners are always welcome and encouraged to join! We’ll make several stops along the trail and on the water so that people can take pictures and admire the beautiful views. This is a great event to talk and get to know other Washingtonians in a very casual and non-awkward way. Our host will be there to make introductions and everyone gets a chance to talk with everyone. You then have the option to hang out afterwards and eat lunch. The laughs during the hike, the global friendships that are made, and the fact of knowing there’s always a helping hand on a difficult bit are unique to this event. See you on the trail! DATE: Sunday, 23rd April 2023 MEETING TIME: 2:00pm - 4:30pm MEETING PLACE: Paccar Pavilion in Olympic Sculpture Park. We will meet in front of the building. It provides fans of contemporary sculpture something to look at and contemplate as walk through the park’s pathways. DISTANCE: The hike is approximately 3 miles in an out-and-back loop. These hikes are appropriate for beginners in good health. RESTROOMS: There will be bathrooms available halfway through the hike. ******************************************** WHAT TO EXPECT: There are no kids or pets allowed on the hikes for safety concerns. Please leave home with ample time and arrive promptly, taking traffic into consideration etc. We will meet at 2:00pm in front of the Paccar Pavilion building in Olympic Sculpture Park to greet each other, do some stretches, and have a quick photo session before we start the walk. We won’t wait for late comers! We will take a headcount at the beginning of the walk and strive to keep the group together, but sometimes split happens. It isn't a race and we aim to keep no hiker left behind! Should the group get disconnected, we will stop at all trail forks for the group to catch up. Once we finish this beautiful waterfront walk, we always end the walk with a light picnic where the socializing can continue. Be sure to join us for the whole experience! ******************************************** IF YOU ARE PARTICIPATING: You are responsible for looking after your own health, safety and belongings. The leaders are human, things might happen. Be ready to be a part of the solution. Know what you are capable of and communicate that to the group leader. CANNABIS DISCLAIMER: If you want to consume cannabis before or after the hike, this group is friendly for that but please, understand that you are consuming at your own risk. Please do it discreetly at designated consumption areas since we will be on public land. Also, although 420 is a friendly, legal social activity and we all remember the days of passing it around, you need to bring your own weed, please. Some homies will probably be willing to share, but don’t expect that from anyone. Lastly, do not bring bongs or torches or ANY illegal drugs. Cannabis vape pens, bowls, joints, and edibles are preferred. Thank you for your understanding. WHAT TO BRING: You may just need a hat, light shirt or jacket, but be sure to layer, as you will warm up and the weather may change. A day pack or shoulder bag is recommended to carry your items. BYO Food and drinks.
