You're invited to a CE Event at Chesapeake Oral Surgery Associates for our Medication Related Osteonecrosis of the Jaws; Bisphosphonate and Rank-L Inhibitors Lecture. This 2-½ hour lecture is packed with information on prevention, palliative care and deBinitive care as related to each drug our patients are receiving. It is based on the knowledge and recommendations of Dr. Robert E. Marx, University Of Miami Miller School of Medicine. Dr. Marx is the discoverer of Bisphosphonates causing ONJ nearly 20 years ago. This lecture will also address the co-management with the prescribing physician, oncologist and the entire dental team. In this lecture we hope to reduce confusion amongst the dental and medical teams. Risk assessment is critical to the prevention of ONJ. When ONJ occurs deBinitive treatment verses palliative care then becomes the critical concern and question. At the end of this program we hope to have met the following objectives: • Recognize the drugs that place our patients at risk for ONJ • Understand how these drugs cause ONJ • Understand prevention protocols for ONJ • Understand palliative vs. treatment protocols for ONJ • Understand when and who invasive dental procedures can be performed (cleanings, extractions, Implants)
